McKay Club Beacons 3, Chelsea Cyclones 2
One of the best games I have seen in 10 years in the YBL. Great pitching clutch plays and a mistake or two led to this 8 inning extravaganza of quality amateur baseball at Ronan Park.
Nick O'Keefe (Beacons) 7IP tossed a 3 hitter and left (with the score tied) in the 8th in favor of Brian Glenn. Glenn gave up the lead run on a balk. BUT, with the bases loaded and 2 out Mike Barthel smashed a 2 run single to walk off with ba huge win.
Matt Manganelli pithed 7 and was in line for the victory. This kid pitched his ass off all night long. Kevin Loveless came in in the 8th and blew the save.
Chelsea is the Franchise of the Year candidate in the early going. They have become a force in this league. They play with the heart of a lion.
Too bad someone had to lose this game. It was a gem from start to finish. |

Nick O'Keefe started and Mike Barthel ended the madness at Trum Field tonight on the bump for the Beacons. O'Keefe was not perfect, but he kept things under control. When he was lifted the score was 2-2 in favor of Dan Gomez in the 4th. Dan struck out the side in the 4th & 5th. But, after two were out in the 6th - he became a wild man. The fiesty Cyclones plated 4 in that stanza to make things interesting. Mike Barthel was called upon to put out the fire and the McKay Club was able to hold on to win.
Drew Tambling was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored & 3 stolen bases. Dan Ciocca was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Connor Reinfurt was 3 for 3 with 2RBI and a run scored. Ryan Oshima was 2 for 4 as well. |
