Brewers take game 1 behind a strong offensive outburst, complemented by a great complete-game effort by starter Troy Sainsbury. Troy held the Bluefish to just 2 runs and 3 hits, despite walking 8 batters due to a tight strike-zone.
Marc Hordon went 2-2 with a 2-run homer to lead the offense. Will Lawton and Tony Iafolla each added RBI triples to the Brewers' cause.

The Brewer bats that were quiet in the double-header just 5 days earlier came to life on Thursday night. Tony Iafolla's 2-run homer in the 2nd capped an 8-run effort in the first 2 innings. That was more than enough for Dave Wasylak, who posted a no-hit shutout effort through the 5th.
Marc Hordon and Mike Maguire went a combined 5-6 with 6 RBI.
John Young provided 2.2 innings of solid relief in the middle innings. Bluefish batting leader Bobby Foote blasted a pinch-hit RBI double in the 7th. |

The Dodgers open 2009 with a 4-2 win over the defending champion Bluefish behind stellar pitching from Kyle Breidenstine. Breidenstine (6 innings, 6 hits, 1 BB and 4 K's) picked up his 1st YBL win in a great effort. DH Gregg Smith and 3B Matt Grimes both had 2 hits and 2 RBIs to lead the Harbor Point offense in the team's first home game at Ronan Park.
The Dodgers got out in front in the 1st after RF Jeff Ayers and CF Jay Shatto (2 hits) singled off of West Roxbury starter Dan Lambrecht. Smith plated in both runners with a 2-out single. The Fish fought back in the 4th with a solo shot to left by SS Jason Recore. 1B Sean Glavin followed with a double and later scored on 2B Mike Lembo's single.
Harbor Point took the lead the same inning when Grimes singled with the bases loaded, scoring 2B Steve Defusco and Smith. Dodger closer Marc Skipper came on in the 7th and picked up the save, starting a text book 1-6-3 DP to end the game. |
