After retiring the first batter of the seventh, the Braves James Ramsdell belted a triple to spoil perfect game and the no-hitter. The Braves also avoid the shutout as Ramsdell scored on the following batter's ground-out. Certainly worth a mention was veteran centerfielder Dave Mitrou's total disregard for his body to make a spectacular diving catch on a fourth ininng gap shot, which at the time was instrumental in preserving McCarthy's gem.

Offensively, Dan Jalbert continued to lead the Rockies' offensive attack tallying 3 more hits including a line-drive blast over the left field fence for his first homer of 2009. Gary Moran chipped in with two more hits.
