The Malden Bulldogs played today with very heavy hearts.
We would like to thank Somerville, who is a show of class, wore black armbands and participated in a pre-game moment of silence.
We won the game today as a team for our fallen coach who died in a sincere act of bravery.
We would like to thank all the members of the YBL who have reached out to us. We sincerely appreciate your kind words.
We will continue to play hard becasue that is what Dennis would have wanted.

McKay Club Beacons 4, Somerville Alibrandis 0
The Beacons were led to an 8th seed play off spot in its 32nd game by Mike Barthel tonight at Trum Field against the mighty Somerville Alibrandi Club. Barthel was brilliant in 7 full innings on the bump. He allowed only 2 hits; walked 3 and k'd 2 -- enroute to his 6th win of the season.
Barthel knocked in a run with a double in the 1st and that was followed by a single by Connor Reinfurt (2-2) which plated Barthel. The Beacons played small ball in the 4th. Reinfurt walked, Jack Owens bunted and was safe on a single. Dan Ciocca had a single scoring Connor. Then Frank Yavorski placed a perfect squeeze bunt that plated Owens with the 4th run.
2009 was a long season for the McKay Club! It was sweet to end the regular season this way and make the post season for the first time since 2005. |
