Brighton Brewers 0 0 1 0 0 2 1 4 8 4

Game 2 was a different story from the offensive outbursts in game 1. Ken Kilduff and Kevin Christina locked up for a pitchers duel in the afternoon heat at Revere. The Rocks took the early lead jumping out to a 3-0 lead on 4 hits in the first but were shut down for the next 5 innings as Christina scattered only 3 singles. Duff was equally impressive over the first 5 innings as he allowed only 2 hits while striking out 4.
With the game tied at 3 after six, the Brewers loaded the bases against releiver Guarino on a walk, and error and an intentional walk to Tony "Mad-Man" Iafolla. Klaes then hit one in the hole at short. Laliberte made a beautiful diving stop on it, but the throw to 2nd was too late and the Brewers took the lead.
In the bottom of the 7th, a one-out single by Mike Close kept things alive. With two down, clean-up hitter Ned Coffee launched the first pitch he saw deep over the fence in left for a walk-off 2-run blast.

Malden made it 9 in row dating back to last year with a big win over the Brighton Brewers.

Adam Del Rio was oustanding tonight scattering 3 hits over 6 innings. Del Rio allowed 1 run in the first on a bloop double by Vacanti. He struck out 11, 9 of which were looking.

Malden played small ball for most of the night against starter Tupper. Malden stole bases and scored 3 runs on groundouts.

A big win for Malden who will have a tougher time the next time we face the Brewers full squad.

Next game in 7 days vs. Al Thomas.
