AlThomas Athletics 5, Brighton Black Sox 4
The Brighton Sox dominated the game until the 6th inning, when the A's woke up and scored 3 runs on a 2-run double by Chris Malloy and a single by Greg Lovely. In the bottom of the 7th with 2 out and nobody on, Sean Wilshere beat out a dribbler between the plate and the mound, followed by a booming triple to right center by Steve Sherman to tie the game. Brian Powers laced a single to center to win the game, as the Al Thomas Club picked up its 3rd last-at-bat victory of the year. Robe Celata picked up the win in relief of John Russell. Celata hurled 2 1/3 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. Sherman, Powers and Wilshere collected 2 hits apiece for the A's, while Miranda had 2 hits for the Sox. Pat Foley pitched a strong game in defeat, baffling Al Thomas hitters for most of the game. |
