Although extremely frustrated they allowed their first run of the year in the 6th inning (their 27th inning of the season), in retrospect the Jays were fortunate the Senators did not tie the game. The Sens had bases loaded with 1 out in the 6th and the middle of their order up. After a bases loaded walk to score a run, they would strand the tying run at third base. Steve Shortle labored but stuck it out with a 120 pitch, complete game effort. Jays manufacture 2 runs in the first half of the game without a hit. Move to the 7th inning, 2-1 ballgame.....after drawing 3 walks to load the bases, the first Jay's hits by Happas and Pickett put the Jays up 5-1.
