Beacon Hill Dodgers 8, McKay Club Beacons 7
In what would eventually become a tasty nail-biter, the Dodgers held off a 7th-inning rally from the Beacon bats. "Moose" Breidenstine fought through 6 innings for the win, the biggest of which being the 5th where the Beacons had the bases loaded and no outs. The Dodgers turned a grounder to 1st into a 3-6-2 double play and escaped giving up only 1 run.
Good, lengthy at bats followed with timely hitting helped the Dodgers with most of their offense. Matty Donaghue swung the hot bat going 2 for 3 with a 2B and 2 RBIs. Jon Merritt pitched the top of the 7th, closing out the game with a death-defying pickoff move to 1st base.
For the Beacons, Bryan Curran fell a double short of the cycle going 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs and a walk, including a HR into the tennis courts in left in the 3rd, and later a 2-run triple in the 7th. |
