The Cubs tied in the bottom of the 2nd taking advantage of consecutive singles by Elsmore and Doucette and a passed ball. The Thunder went ahead to stay in the 4th on a double by Paul Laurin, a walk to Maravelias, a single by Gregg Bromley, and then Maravelias came home on Bromley's attempted steal of 2nd. The Cubs got 1 in the 6th on hits by Settles and Roddenberry, and 1 in the 8th on singles by LaPianta and Cimento. But more Thunder runs came in the 6th - bases loaded walk to Ed Macmillan - and the 7th on an RBI single by Dave Brown, gave the Thunder the 5-3 win. Mike Johnson pitched 4 for the Thunder, giving up 1 unearned run, striking out 6, walking 0 and giving up only 3 hits.
