The two starters locked horns in this one as both Tim Labbe for Lexington and Fred Conley for the Cardinals pitched complete games on a scorcher at Lexington High. A nip and tuck game all the way Lexington finally pulled ahead in the bottom half of the eighth on a big two run pinch hit by Jim Buchanon. For Lexington Bobby Lubrun once again provided a spark at the top going 2 for 5 with two runs and two steals, Tim Labbe along with getting the win went 2 for 2 with an RBI, and Michael Gerrish off the bench came in and ignited the rally in the eighth to cap off a 2 for 2 day and made a game saving catch in right field in the ninth. For the Cards Rich Jackman did his best to win this thing on his own going 4 for 5 with 3 RBI.
