Senators 6, Rangers 1
The Senators knocked off their new divisional foes, the Rangers, behind a dominant pitching performance from Mike Cook. Cook carried a no-hitter with 2 outs into the 5th until the always dangerous Chris Plant singled sharply to right. Cook finished the day with the win, 5IP, 10Ks, and 2 hits.
Offensively, the Senators came out with guns blazing scoring 2 in the first on a double by Bill Sinopoli and a single by rookie sensation Steve McKeown. Steve finished the day 3-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Matt Meuse also chipped in with 2 hits, an RBI and a run scored.
Newcomer John McCarthy pitched the final two frames to earn the save. |
