Mariners 9, Dbacks 8
The Mariners jumped out to an early 7-0 lead thanks to some timely hitting and 5 innings of shutout ball from M's pitcher John Miller. Things changed quickly in the 6th, when the Dbacks put up 8 runs to take the lead. But M's veteran Jeff Rausch came through with a 2-out RBI single to tie the score in the bottom half of the inning, setting the stage for a dramatic final frame. After holding the Dbacks scoreless in the top half of the 7th, the M's loaded the bases with 2 outs and grabbed their first victory of the season with a less-than-dramatic walk-off walk.
Five M's hitters notched 2 hits on the night, with Jamie Aldoupolis, Jay LaPointe, and Matt Dumont each knocking in a pair. For the Dbacks, Eddie Fernandez and Steve VanReenen had extra base hits. |
