Backed by a complete game effort from Chris Dowd and a five-run sixth inning, the Brewers won their first game of the season, beating the Rangers 7-2. Down gave up two unearned runs on ten hits, while striking out three on 135 pitches. The Rangers took the early lead, but the Brewers tied the game 1-1, when Damian Aufiero singled to drive in Peter Delrose. The Brewers took the lead in the fifth when Aufiero reached on a fielder's choice and later scored on a Joe Mussleman single. The Brewers broke the game wide open with a six-run fifth inning. Delrose, Steve Pinner, and Mussleman drove in the runs to widen the lead and ensure the Brewers' first win of the season. The Brewers will try to make it back-to-back wins when they take on the DBacks Saturday night at Hyde Park.
