White Sox 1, Blue Jays 0
In an opening day classic filled with phenomenal pitching, clutch defensive plays, projectile vomiting, & general strangeness, the White Sox win 1-0 on a walk-off sac-fly by Mike Lembo scoring Mike Morgan on a close play at the plate.
Bryan Healey was outstanding for the Jays scattering 7 hits over 7 innings. Rich Wlodarczyk was equally dominant for the Sox earning the victory with 7 shutout innings.
The Jays threatened often, but Wlodarczyk & the Sox defense found a way out of every jam. The Sox defense racked up 3 double-plays & Wlodarczyk did not allow a walk while striking out 7.
The most bizarre play of the game occurred in the 6th, as Jay Thomas belted a double with 1 on & 1 out. The Sox recorded a 9-2-1-5-7-6 double play to escape the inning.
Dana Levensaler had 2 hits for the Jays. The Sox were led offensively by Ivan Clemente and Lembo, each with 2 hits.
Welcome to the league Jays! Have a great season. |
