The Marlins snapped a three year losing streak on Opening Day with an 8-4 victory over the Royals at the Circle. Fish faithful were treated to something new, a decisive 7 run 3rd inning and something old, control pitching by Neil Doherty (Win, 4IP, 1R, 3K). In the 3rd the Marlins got big blows from Jason Leone (2 for 3, R, 2B, SB) and Andy Herr (two-run triple), both making their MABL debut. Newcomers Kevin Brennan (2IP, 3K) and Jim Kotarski (1IP, 2K) held the lead in relief of Doherty. Ariel Martinez took the loss for the Royals, who were led offensively by Jon Christensen's 3 hit performance.
