Victor Ruiz stymied the A's, hurling a CG win while striking out 13. The A's took an early lead courtesy of a Santi Mazzeo "Chelsea special" in the 1st inning, clearing the fence in right field and staking the A's to a 2-0 lead. Ruiz would not allow another hit until a single with one out in the 7th inning. With the tying run standing in scoring position, he struck out the final two batters to seal the victory for the O's. The decisive hit in the game was a double in the fourth by Greg Gallivan, which turned a 2-1 Orioles deficit into a lead which would not be relinquished.
