White Sox 9, Mariners 0
Brian Houlding tossed his 3rd career shutout as the White Sox defeated the Mariners 9-0. Houlding struck out 8, allowing 5 scattered hits and 4 walks to improve to 2-0.
The Sox jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning when Kyle Michaud led off with a single, advanced on an errant pick-off attempt and later scored on a wild pitch.
But the game was really broken open in the 4th inning when Ryan Gray hit a 3-RBI bases-loaded triple. Jason Hoye added 2-RBI on a 7th inning double to seal the deal.
Dave Martin was also stellar in the outfield, as he twice made putouts in rightfield and then doubled-off aggressive runners back at first base for assists.
For the Mariners, Sean McLaughlin picked up 2 of the team's 5 hits. |
